Saanich Women’s Active Newcomers (SWANS) is a friendly and supportive group for graduates of the Newcomers’ Club of Greater Victoria, NCGV, (formerly the Saanich Newcomers’ Club). Our group organises and participates in a wide range of activities of interest to members as well as a monthly luncheon with interesting guest speakers or special events. We are a member of the National Newcomers Association of Canada, NNAC. SWANS is strictly a friendship and social organization and members may not solicit or canvass for any business or charitable purpose.

About Us

We are a friendship group in Victoria, British Columbia celebrating our 20 year anniversary in 2021. Our membership includes approximately 200 women. We hold monthly meetings at the scenic Royal Colwood Golf Club often featuring interesting speakers and/or entertainment.

Members may attend monthly luncheons and vote at all annual general meetings. They may also participate in any of the wide range of group activities and events offered by SWANS. While the club takes a break for June and July, some activity groups continue throughout the summer. There is no limit to the number of years that you may be a member of SWANS. Members who have not joined SWANS for several years always have the option of rejoining.

Upon joining SWANS, members have access to a password protected Members ONLY website that provides detailed information about our club events and activities. Members will also have access to membership lists and other important information.

INFORMATION FOR NEWCOMERS CLUB OF GREATER VICTORIA

SWANS Membership contacts Newcomers Club of Greater Victoria early in the spring to get the names, telephone numbers and emails of those graduating. An invitation is sent out inviting the graduates to attend a Luncheon in March or April. At the beginning of July, SWANS membership coordinators will email the Newcomer graduates a membership form and details on how to join SWANS.  SWANS membership is open annually July 1 to September 30. After joining SWANS, graduates can join any Interest Group.
