SWANS (Saanich Women’s Active Newcomers) is a volunteer organization that has been in existence since 2002. Over the years, the group has been a source of friendship and support to its members.

Revel in SWANS activities! "Instead of looking to 'find your tribe,' focus on pursuing your passions or interests. In taking a pottery class, trying a new church, or doing weekly hikes, you position yourself to meet people with shared interests. Book club, movie night, arts and culture, mahjong, golf, walks and hikes, along with other activities, allow members to pursue their interests and meet new friends. Some events, such as Appy Night and Sunday Hiking, welcome partners.

Monthly lunches are held at the Royal Colwood Golf Club, where members enjoy guest speakers and delicious food. Favourite events of the year are the Christmas Luncheon, with its musical interlude, and the Spring Fashion Show.

Membership is open to graduates of the Newcomers’ Club of Greater Victoria, NCGV, (formerly the Saanich Newcomers’ Club), the Victoria Evening Newcomers’ Club (VENC) and the Newcomers of Victoria Alumnae (NOVA) and other interested women in the Greater Victoria community, upon approval of the Executive.
